Since you will be creating a website that will be viewed by people all over the world it is important that you know your topic thoroughly. NBC Sports has requested that you familiarize yourself with the geography and culture of the region. The network executives will fly you to southern Russia to become acquaited with the area. Complete this cyberhunt to learn about Russias's history and geography and about the history of the winter Olympics.

Now that you know the region and have gained some background on the winter olympics, you can begin your research on your particlar sport. Feel free to use any search engine you like. The following websites may be useful:

Step Three
Find your sport on the Olympics wiki page on http://winterolympics2014.wikispaces.com. As you begin creating your page remember that the NBC executives hired you to create interest in and provide relevant information about your assigned sport. This wiki will be published to the web when completed.

I created the following video to show you how to create and edit pages in wikispaces. You should write down your log in ID and password. You may want to save this information in your phone. If you have an iPhone the Notes app is a good place to store information. As you learn how to add and edit media content to your page please share your knowledge with other students who need assistance.

Use the following questions as a guide:
- Describe your sport. How is the game played/event performed? How many medal events are there in your sport? How is the winner chosen? (Judges decide? Race against the clock? Race against other participants? Lowest score? Highest Score? etc.)
- Which countries typically perform well in your sport? What were the medal results in the last few winter olympics? Who are the favorites at Sochi?
- If your sport has individual events, who are all time best performers in these events? Who holds the world record in your sport for the most gold medals? Most total medals? What are the all time best performances in your sport?
- Pick one or two American participants in your sport and profile these people.
- Remember to include information and results about both men's teams and women's teams in your assigned sport.
- What memorable performance, if any, has occured in your event in past olympics?
Include the following elements on your page:
- A clearly written introduction and analysis of your sport, using your own words.
- A picture of the country flags of the favorite medal contenders in the upcoming olympics.
- The medal results of your sport in the previous winter olympic games.
- At least two pictures related to your sport.
- At least three hyperlinks to other web locations that relate to your page content.
- At least one embeded video related to your sport.
- The dates and times that your event(s) will be contested at the Sochi games.
- Name and location of the venue where your event will be contested at the Sochi games.
- Proper references
